Boxing Day

Coming home with my daughter and grandson yesterday about 4.15 the sky looked spectacular! We stopped so I could get out of the car and take this picture.

Christmas Day 2007

Christmas seems to be all about buying very expensive gifts that so many cannot really afford, drinking an obscene amount of alcohol, and eating a ridiculous quantity of food. What ever happened to the reason for Christmas. The best gift anyone of us can give to another is Love. Peace on Earth, a gift that countless millions across the globe long for. Who knows maybe one day there will be peace on earth.

Christmas Eve

So many memories of Christmas Eve but one that is so bright in my mind. Two little girls watching Basil Brush Christmas show, me baking mince pies and watching through the hatch. You were so little then. Be happy this Christmas Kerri and Marianne.

Angels

I did these little angels several years ago but cannot find the link. The lamp is from a tutorial by Nancys (Choo Choos).

Christmas Past

It's never easy to capture the beauty of the Christmas tree all lit up. Every year I find time to just sit in the dark and watch the magic of it's flickering lights and remember each of it's treasured decorations.

Brushes

I took this photo back in the summer then invented a very quick script in PaintShoppro to make it look a little like a painting. Once again I have no idea what it is.

Tis the season

Funny the things that you remember. The little song on my image we taught to children in Sunday School more than forty years ago lol.. I was asked to paint a poster for each of the plants for different children to hold up as we sang it.

Dec 5th Sinterklaas Day

The Dutch Sinterklaas(St Nicholas) traditionally arrives by sea from Spain, in Amsterdam in mid-November, the beginning of the Sinterklaas season.
When he arrives in his stately Bishop robes, he mounts a white horse for a ride through the streets of Amsterdam throwing cookies and candies to the spectators.

My little fur paws

This cute and innocent little bundle of fur wakes me up of a morning for food. Having fed her she then sits complaining at the bottom of the stairs that she wants to go back to bed now please. The catch is that she expects me to go with her lol..

Swans at Coombe Abbey

I recently visited Coombe Abbey in Coventry Warwickshire. I was surprised as we walked around by the number of Swans that were amongst the visitors. This one was right beside me and waited patiently as I took a shot.

Christmas Cactus

My Christmas Cactus. Always spectacular in my opinion. I have a hankering after a white one.

Dew

It is hard enough to take a picture of these delicately spun webs with dew on them, but then you need to compress the image which takes away so much of the beauty. Still it did look beautiful.

Close-up

This is a close-up of the seed pods. They are quite spectacular.

Snapshot

I have no idea what these amazing plants are, possibly a lily of some sort. The flowers are over but the foliage and the seed pods are still so striking.

Pisces

Another old pencil drawing given a new lease of life in Paintshop pro. I did this for my husband years ago.

Stainglass Initial

I love Dover images. This is from one of their black and white typography books. I 'painted' it with stained glass and gold leading.

Beauty in White

So here we are a week into October and these Dahlias are still looking magnificent. Nature never ceases to amaze me, she has to be the 'Artist' to gloriously outstrip all others.

Rain

There is something so beautiful about rain drops as they hang like tiny jewels on the trees and flowers. I took this after a heavy downpour. It is spoilt really by the compression.

Jack's Sunflower

There were times this year when it seemed that Jack's Sunflowers would not grow. It's October now and they are looking great!

Butterfly

Caught this butterfly on some flowers recently. Ordinary I know but nonetheless beautiful.

Chess in Alice's world.

For some minutes Alice stood without speaking, looking out in all directions over the country—and a most curious country it was. There were a number of tiny little brooks running straight across it from side to side, and the ground between was divided up into squares by a number of little green hedges, that reached from brook to brook.
“I declare it’s marked out just like a large chessboard!” Alice said at last. “There ought to be some men moving about somewhere—and so there are!” she added in a tone of delight, and her heart began to beat quick with excitement as she went on. “It’s a great huge game of chess that’s being played—all over the world—if this is the world at all, you know. Oh, what fun it is! How I wish I was one of them! I wouldn’t mind being a Pawn, if only I might join—though of course I should like to be a Queen, best.”

Autumn

Mostly I love this time of year. My only hangup, and it's a big one, are the flying daddy long legs. I can deal with spiders but not long legged things that fly.

Church organ

We visited the Cotswolds on Monday to explore the villages that my family came from. This organ was in one of the churches, Pebworth I think. I have given it a slightly different look.

Shine a little light.

A simple photo taken with the light on and manipulated. I love what can be done to gently change an image.

Lovely perfume

My lovely Roses continue to bloom. This one has the softest perfume, not something I notice with many Roses these days. The bee's can always be found in these as they open.

Remembering the tragic loss of so many lives.

Invitation to play

This little fellow was being invited to be a playmate for my cat and her friend. I declined the invite on the frogs behalf, removed the cat, found the camera, took a photo, and showed him the way home.

Moving house

This little spider has been intent on having it's own web address..lol, in my kitchen. This was it's most recent attempt. The web was between the ceiling the cooker, the most intricate part nearest the door handle.

Hydreangers

These beautiful flowers are just going over now. I think they must have enjoyed our summer despite the mixed weather. I have not seen them looking as good before.

Dover Images

I love Dover's copyright free images. So many books to choose from and many more creative possibilities. History costume is something that I find fascinating. If you would like the .psp version of this, click Here

Cliff Richard Rose

My daughter gave me this rose bush a long time ago. It only has a few roses each year, but, as you can see, it is always so beautiful.

Old drawings

My drawings that I did back in my college days, look tatty. Little by little i have scanned and cleaned them up, given them a facelift. Who remembers 'curls on top' lol...

Rugby School

Out and about with my camera, this was quite difficult catching the shot I wanted between the traffic.

Shades of Autumn

Looking out my window this morning I can see the trees taking on their splendid Autumn colours. There is a fresh nip in the early morning air. A wonderful season and I love it.

Kenilworth Castle

We went over to my mothers birthplace a couple of weeks ago. This is one of a few photos I took. Played with it some.

Family History

I am hooked on my families history and it's such a fascinating experience. In July I met a cousin I did not know I had. Dawn has a big family of her own, both here and in Australia. Her brother Desmond has been researching the family for the best part of 20 years and I am so grateful to him for sharing his Gedcom. Since uploading it to Genes Reunited, I have been able to continue to add to it.
