Coming home with my daughter and grandson yesterday about 4.15 the sky looked spectacular! We stopped so I could get out of the car and take this picture.

Christmas Day 2007
Christmas seems to be all about buying very expensive gifts that so many cannot really afford, drinking an obscene amount of alcohol, and eating a ridiculous quantity of food. What ever happened to the reason for Christmas. The best gift anyone of us can give to another is Love. Peace on Earth, a gift that countless millions across the globe long for. Who knows maybe one day there will be peace on earth.

Dec 5th Sinterklaas Day
The Dutch Sinterklaas(St Nicholas) traditionally arrives by sea from Spain, in Amsterdam in mid-November, the beginning of the Sinterklaas season.
When he arrives in his stately Bishop robes, he mounts a white horse for a ride through the streets of Amsterdam throwing cookies and candies to the spectators.

Chess in Alice's world.
For some minutes Alice stood without speaking, looking out in all directions over the country—and a most curious country it was. There were a number of tiny little brooks running straight across it from side to side, and the ground between was divided up into squares by a number of little green hedges, that reached from brook to brook.
“I declare it’s marked out just like a large chessboard!” Alice said at last. “There ought to be some men moving about somewhere—and so there are!” she added in a tone of delight, and her heart began to beat quick with excitement as she went on. “It’s a great huge game of chess that’s being played—all over the world—if this is the world at all, you know. Oh, what fun it is! How I wish I was one of them! I wouldn’t mind being a Pawn, if only I might join—though of course I should like to be a Queen, best.”

Family History
I am hooked on my families history and it's such a fascinating experience. In July I met a cousin I did not know I had. Dawn has a big family of her own, both here and in Australia. Her brother Desmond has been researching the family for the best part of 20 years and I am so grateful to him for sharing his Gedcom. Since uploading it to Genes Reunited, I have been able to continue to add to it.
